This pin features a large poppy seed pod crown - the detailed, star-shaped cap that keeps hundreds of poppy seeds inside the seed pod.
The Poppy is best known as a symbol of remembrance & hope but is also a Birth-Flower for the month of August in the UK. 
 
Materials:
Sterling silver poppy crown and stem. Silver-plated pin stopper.
 
Dimensions:
The poppy head is approx 22mm diameter & the stem pin is about 6cm long.
Fastened with a push on stopper.
The front & reverse of this Poppy Crown are both detailed with textures.
 
How it's made:
In the Autumn I collect dried seed-pods from my garden - this one was a perfectly formed Opium Poppy (Papaver Somniferum) which I cut from it's pod to cast into silver. A mold is made and repeats are made in London using the ancient art of lost-wax casting. The castings are then returned to my workshop in Pembrokeshire, where they are tidied up and a hand-carved stem is soldered to the crown.
 
How to wear it:
This pin can be fastened onto fabric with a simple push-on stopper.
You could wear this on a lapel, a scarf, tie or a structured hat.
It's eye-catching and the bright silver shines like a star!
