The magical Orchid - from the beautiful British Marsh Orchids in meadows to the tropical Orchids suspended in air, with no need for soil - there are around 28,000 different species worldwide. 
 
Materials:
Sterling Silver flower & stem with a silver plated push-on stopper.
 
Measures:
The Orchid flower is 14mm diameter & the pin is about 55mm long.
The inner petals curve inwards, giving them a sculptural feel & the finish is a soft polish rather than a high shine, highlighting the natural textures.
 
How it's made:
I made the original Orchid by hand-sawing sheet metal shapes & soldering them together in stages. Repeats of this orchid are cast into silver using the ancient art of lost-wax casting in London. Then the orchid castings are soldered onto a hand carved silver pin back in my Pembrokeshire workshop.
 
How to wear it:
This pin can be fastened onto fabric with a simple push-on stopper.
You could wear this on a lapel, a scarf, tie or a structured hat.
